How you can help
Joustergate exists to raise awareness of a potential safety risk that is often overlooked until an incident occurs.
While we have already identified numerous examples of gates and barriers that could present a hazard if left open, unsecured, damaged, or struck by a vehicle, we know there are many more out there.
That’s where you can help.
Have You Seen a Potential Joustergate?
We are looking for examples of gates, barriers, access control systems, and similar structures that could pose a risk if left in the wrong position or involved in a collision.
This isn’t about naming and shaming property owners or businesses. Our aim is simply to build awareness of designs and installations that may warrant further consideration from a safety perspective.
Examples could include:
Gates that project into vehicle routes when open.
Barriers with long protruding arms or structures.
Installations located close to roadways or traffic routes.
Access control systems where a vehicle could potentially collide with a projecting section.
Any gate or barrier that makes you stop and think, “What would happen if a vehicle hit that?”
What To Send Us
If you spot a potential example, we’d love to hear from you.
Please include:
A photograph or video.
The location (if known).
A brief description of why you believe it could present a risk.
Any additional information that may help us understand the installation.
Why Your Contribution Matters
Many serious incidents are dismissed as unfortunate one-off events.
By collecting examples from across the country, we can help demonstrate that the issue is more widespread than many people realise and encourage conversations about safer design, risk assessment, and accident prevention.
Every photograph, report, and observation helps build a clearer picture.
Together, we can help ensure that potential hazards are recognised before they become real-world tragedies.
See something that concerns you?
Send it to us and help make gate and barrier safety part of the conversation.
