January 2015 – Ellsemere Port Joustergate Incident

A driver and their passenger walked away unscathed after a metal car park barrier smashed into the windscreen of their vehicle – passed through the interior – and crashed out through the rear window.

The gold Renault Clio was driving into a car park when “strong winds” caused the road barrier to swing out into the path of the car.

As it tore through the inside of the car, the metal rod chillingly damaged the driver’s headrest.

The incident took place at Cheshire Oaks shopping centre in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire on New Year’s Day around 2.15pm, police have confirmed.
