A young motorist had a lucky escape last Wednesday when a metal barrier went straight through her car from front to back.
The young woman was turning into the main entrance to the warehousing section at Gorey Shopping Centre when a metal barrier which appears to have been unsecured went through her windscreen shearing off the front passenger headrest before travelling through the rest of the car and coming out her back windscreen.
It is not known whether the metal barrier hadn’t been secured or if it had become lose due to heavy winds.
A person who came upon the accident said the young woman who works in Dunnes Stores had a very narrow escape adding that if she had been carrying a passenger they wouldn’t have survived the impact.
